Biographical Sketch:
- Nancy Garland is a Technology Development Manager in the U.S. Department of Energy=s Office of Hydrogen, Fuel Cells, and Infrastructure Technologies. She is currently acting Fuel Cell Team Leader. Before this, she was responsible for managing all National Laboratory R&D activities in fuel cells, including membranes, catalysts, MEAs, as well as systems and components. She led a High Temperature Membrane Working Group with ~ 60 participants from academia, industry, and DOE National Laboratories.
- She is a member of the Advanced Fuel Cells Executive Committee for the International Energy Agency. She is the DOE representative to the Scientific Organizing committee of the Grove Symposium. She is on the Technical Program Committee for the Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition.
- Prior to coming to DOE, she was a Research Chemist at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory where she carried out experimental studies on chemical kinetics and dynamics. Dr. Garland is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Combustion Institute.
- She has a B.A. degree in Chemistry from Scripps College and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. She carried out her post-doctoral studies in laser diagnostics for combustion at SRI International in Menlo Park, CA.
