- Mr. Funk leads LMI's energy practice responsible for satisfying client needs in energy planning, management, and services. While at LMI, he has led or participated on numerous studies dealing with energy planning, organizational/process alignment, performance measurement and metrics development, strategic planning, and supply chain analysis. His tasks have supported the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff (Training Division); Army (Secretariat, IMA, Corps of Engineers), Navy (HQ staff), Defense Logistics Agency (DESC), Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), Department of Energy (NREL), General Services Administration (FSS), and Treasury (IRS). Mr. Funk came to LMI following a 27-year Naval career, culminating with his role as the Deputy Director of the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC, a field activity of the Defense Logistics Agency). While at DESC, he directed the day-to-day operation and administration of this global energy logistics organization (revenues exceeding $5B). Prior to that assignment, Mr. Funk served as the Commanding Officer of the Navy Petroleum Office where he led the organization which established energy related policies, technical and support guidelines for the Department of the Navy. Over his Naval career, Mr. Funk held assignments dealing with energy planning/management, logistics, acquisition and business planning, organizational and resource management.
