Biographical Sketch:
- Dr. Hanwei Lei has been Sr. Scientist and DMFC project leader of Cabot Fuel Cells in Cabot Corporation to lead DMFC MEA and electrocatalyst research and development since October 2004.
- Hanwei Lei finished his Ph.D in electrochemistry in 1993 from Wuhan University in China. He developed techniques of Fast Potential Modulation (FPM) and Time-resolved Electrochemical Quartz Crystal Microbalance (TEQCM) and apply them for electrocatalysis mechanism studies related to the hydrogen evolution reaction, oxygen reduction, formic oxidation, Cd2+/Pb2+ UPD processes for his dissertation. During 1993 ~ 1997, Dr. Lei worked as a postdoc in Japan with Prof. H. Kita in Hokaido University (1993~1995) and Prof. M. Watanabe in Yamanashi University (1995~1997) on single crystal electrochemistry and fuel cell electrocatalysis. After stay in electrochemistry group of Wuhan University as an associate professor for a year, Dr. Lei joined IIT (Illinois institute of technology) as a senior research associate with Dr. E. Smotkin for DMFC combinatory catalyst discovery project. During 2000~2004, Dr. Lei joined T/J Technologies Inc to lead the fuel cell programs and worked as PI for multiple fuel cell projects funded by the US. Army, NASA, NSF, DOE etc. Dr. Lei has over 50 publications and presentations in fuel cells and electrocatalysis.
